Curtains Up

Why choose the Curtain Up Theatre School Family?

Bath's Theatre School

for children aged from 4 years old

Curtain Up logoSING, DANCE & ACT!

Our students ages range from 4 to 18 years old. They are separated into age groups and enjoy singing, dancing and acting lessons each week during term time. We also have summer holiday workshops when we create a unique show in  a week.

We enjoy fantastic end of term performances, these are a few moments from July 2016.

Curtain Up logoOUR LOCATION

We are an independent theatre school, not a franchise and students travel to us from near and far! Our theatre school is held at St Gregory's Catholic College, Bath, on a Saturday morning. All the photographs and footage that you see and hear on our pages are real - you won't see photographs from a franchise, head office or internet search engine!

"Curtain Up is undoubtedly Bath's leading theatre school and with this vibrant production it is very easy to see why they hold this accolade"

P.Schofield, Remotegoat, August 2013

Curtain Up logoCONFIDENCE BUILDING & LIFE SKILLS

No experience is needed to join us! The Curtain Up children are all unique and range from those who ooze confidence to those who come to us to find it. We have children who aim to perform for a career and those who enjoy Curtain Up as a wonderful hobby. As the children learn and develop their performance skills, their life skills develop too.

Curtain Up logoLEARNING FROM THE BEST!

The Curtain Up children learn their skills from highly talented teachers! Our staff have a wealth of experience in their chosen specialist field. They work to clear guidelines laid down at the start of an academic year which aim to develop all of the children's talents. All our staff hold DBS checks and work within Child Safe Guidelines. Our teaching team profiles can be seen by clicking here.

"I wish Curtain Up had been around when I was 14!"

Curtain Up logoPERFORMANCES

The Curtain Up children are offered as many performance opportunities as we can find them! There are performances at the end of each term, as well as regular guest appearances with local groups such as Bath Opera, Bath Light Operatic Group, Bath Operatic Group, Bath Drama, Bath Operatic and Drama Society and Chippenham Light Opera Group.

Some of these performance moments can be seen by visiting our galleries

We regularly provide children (and adults!) for professional touring companies. Recent performances include, Waiting for Godot, (McKellen & Stewart) Teseo (ETO) An Inspector Calls (Stephen Daldry) and Evita.

AWARD WINNERS

We are very fortunate to have been nominated for many awards and happily won lots of them! Voted as Bath's Best Independent Children's Business was a phenomenal experience - we were very proud!

"The Judges loved your passion and care and the fact you are changing people's lives"

Curtain Up logoSUMMER SCHOOLS

Our summer schools are open to children over the age of 8 years old, whether or not they are existing Curtain Up students. They are normally written especially for us and include a week of singing, dancing and acting which ends with a fully staged performance that is free for all to come and enjoy! We are told that summer school is the "best week of the summer holidays"  Some of the footage that created the St Tristian's performance of July 2012 can be seen by clicking here and further details of our Summer Schools for  2017, with lots of photos from previous years can be found by clicking here.

Curtain Up logoTHE CURTAIN UP STUDENTS' PROGRESSION

We run Curtain Up with the ethos of  "if it is good enough for our own children, it is good enough for others!" We are always happy to talk to parents at any time about their child's progression or answer any question or concern that a child or parent may have. No question is ever too small!

We acknowledge children's achievements throughout the entire academic year, through weekly awards, trophies, termly medals and at the end of the year the awarding of the coveted Student of the Year award.

At the end of the academic year we provide a written report, detailing the children's progress.
